<image:title>Classes/Workshops - Web, Nest, Earth, Home: Somatic Practices for Woven Bodies</image:title>
<image:caption>with Daniel Bear Davis Web, Nest, Earth, Home: Somatic Practices for Woven Bodies An 8 Week Committed Movement Group on Wednesday Mornings (2/28 - 4/17) Drop-ins welcome the first two sessions (2/28 and 3/6) This group will weave authentic movement, free writing, and other movement practices with insights from Somatic Experiencing and cultural somatics. We will combine tools for orienting, settling, and resourcing with contemplative movement and perception practices to weave dynamic relations between our flesh bodies and the larger bodies of which we are part (i.e. land/place, ancestry, culture, nature). Through movement and mindfulness practice we deepen our trust in our body's innate wisdom and capacity to align towards health and emergent possibilities. Each class will offer specific focus and content to frame improvised movement explorations. There will be group sections and one-on-one witnessing. This class is open to all bodies with curiosity towards movement and the landscapes of the human experience. Wednesdays, Feb 28 – April 17 9-10:30 AM @ The Hidden Temple Arts & Industry Building 221 Pine St., Suite 320 Florence, MA 01062 First two Session are open to drop ins. Sliding Scale Full Series Rate: $120 - $200 Drop-in rate: $15 - 25 (2/28 and 3/6 only) Scholarships, Pay-It-Forward, and Alternative Exchanges are possible: contact me at danbeardavis@gmail.com. <image:title>Alex - Alex Zaccarello (they/them)</image:title>
<image:caption>Movement Education and Re-Patterning, SourcePoint Therapy, Pilates & Gyrotonic ALEX ZACCARELLO is a Therapeutic Movement Practitioner and healing guide who believes movement of the body and mind to be a critical component of healthy living. Sessions with Alex include a blend of modalities that help realize an embodied sense of clarity, awareness, and health. Sessions may include a combination of Gyrotonic Exercise, Gyrokinesis, Pilates, Meditation, SourcePoint Therapy, breathing techniques, visualization exercises, intuitive listening, biomechanics, exercise science, and collaborative talking. Alex is an active partner and listener on your journey of healing and learning. Alex started dancing at the age of 3. Though Alex fell in love with moving and performing, they were most impacted by the wisdom held inside of the body; dancing was their entrance into somatic wisdom. A double leg surgery led Alex to experience first-hand how much contemporary Pilates has to offer for strength, mobility, and proprioception. Alex pursued teaching Pilates as a way of sharing in 2004, alongside a professional dance career. Alex holds a comprehensive Level 2 certification from STOTT Pilates with a focus on Injury and Special Populations and has tutored many students preparing for their comprehensive STOTT Pilates examinations. Bodies are complex! Pilates was never enough… Now in 2021 we wade through the COVID Pandemic - it is clear our physical and energetic bodies endure a lot for us living in the 21st Century, no matter our walk in life. Alex began training in many other somatic modalities soon after they began teaching Pilates because their students needed more layers of support out of injury and illness into well bodies, minds, and spirits. Alex has supported a wide range of bodies over the last 15+ years that span from well to athlete to stuck to sick. Some of those journeys include folks needing support around: knee reconstruction, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, the pre and postpartum body, bladder prolapse, pelvic floor repair, labral tear, meniscal tear, miscarriage and D&C, diastasis, low back pain, plantar fasciitis, migraines, herniated discs, bunions with and without surgery, shin splints, severe constipation/IBS, open heart surgery, multiple sclerosis, congenital nerve damage, diabetes, grief, injury rehabilitation and prevention for the dancing body, marathon running, triathlons, weightlifting, and gynecological health. Alex also works with children approaching puberty and beyond. Alex is a contemporary choreographer and dancer; both practices influence the ways in which they see, address, and approach the body and the movement that arises. Alex is a non-binary queer human using they/them pronouns. They were sexed female at birth and raised in the southern parts of the United States inside of Tejana and Italian cultures. Alex formally studied Dance and Anthropology at Mount Holyoke College, The Boston Conservatory, and Interlochen Arts Academy followed by a career in dancing, dance-making, and movement education. Alex had private practices in Brooklyn and Manhattan for 11 years prior to opening Woven Body Wellness, a movement and bodywork healing arts center, here in Florence with partner Daniel Bear Davis. During the pandemic they see students privately across many countries as well as in person at The Well Seed. Daniel and Alex are growing roots here in Western Massachusetts and gave birth to their first child here last autumn.</image:caption>

That power and genius is reflected wholly in the body and studied in the art and science of chinese medicine and metaphysics. It is a very easy thing to become trapped in what is wrong with our bodies and feel crushed by our suffering. At knotted root, our approach to treatment is to build a safe place to acknowledge and address that suffering, and let it in turn teach us about our selves, our bodies, and our world. The brilliance of the body never ceases to amaze, rm/s highest goal is to explore these infinite possibilities with his patients as they discover that which our bodies are truly capable. knotted root mission: the radical liberation of bodies from constraint, of minds from doctrine, of souls from limitation</image:caption>

With support from my jewish ashkenazi ancestors, my plant teachers, & yoga mentors, I am a healer & plant medicine maker working toward liberation. I want us to take back our power in our own ancestral and intuitive medicine in the home and as sacred practice. As a community herbalist one of my roles is to connect people with plants, education, and collective deep healing. My work is part of a larger movement with other queer healers and collaborators, including the knowledge you bring to the session. I practice and teach with a desire to share, especially with those who might not otherwise find alternative wellness modalities accessible (disabled, trans, queer, low income, diasporic, etc.) I feel inspired by community, lessons from honeybees, queerness, song, and my dreams. My work combines formal and inherited education from many traditions including judaism, ayurveda, raja yoga, and an apprenticeship with traditional chinese herbalism. Katerina's work is improvisational, guided by listening and intuition, aspiring to meet you exactly where you are and to co-create with you an environment where you feel in choice. The more they explore and practice healing arts, Katerina finds that our bodies are already inherently brilliant, and often all it takes is for us to slow down and listen for the answers to appear. <image:title>Alejandra Hajdul - Aléjandra Hajduk (she/her)</image:title>
<image:caption>Somatic Experiencing, Body Work About Alé’s Work: Somatic Experiencing sessions with touch work. It is a body-based form of healing where we focus on how your nervous system is processing your lived experiences by holding space for deep listening and creating space for unmetabolized experiences to be processed in a safe container. SE has a scientific basis on how the nervous system functions and regulates (or not) by itself, and it uses techniques to help clients have more capacity, and more tools to deal with life circumstances without becoming overwhelmed. I draw from my knowledge in Focusing, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment theory and nineteen years of accompanying and listening to my client's bodies through Esalen massage, which is based on Gestalt concepts, and a big part of the origins of Somatic Experiencing. We can work with what is present for you in the moment, past experiences that are affecting your day-to-day capacity to enjoy and be present in life, which could be developmental, or event based. (by these I mean adverse childhood experiences or accidents, surgeries, etc.) My clients report having a greater sense of vitality, more awareness of how their body responds to situations, ability to self-regulate, set clear boundaries, and a greater sense of intimacy with themselves. Bodywork Sessions can range from precise deep tissue and trigger points for treating specific pain and restriction, to flowing strokes and stretches that invite a sense of openness in the whole body. Treatments are tailored to individual needs. Through Somatic inquiry, awareness is invited to places where there is tension and resistance as a means to uncover and release underlying holding patterns. The foundation of my work is Esalen Massage which is known for its long flowing strokes that weave in many other techniques. I have focused a substantial part of my practice to Trigger Point Therapy which I also taught for ten years in Buenos Aires. I like to study how the body responds and adapts to changes and restrictions, and figure out how to release deep held patterns, both habitual and postural. Sessions can include deep tissue, trigger point therapy, Thai-style stretching, breathing awareness, and moments of stillness for integration. Since my background has been infused with the search for greater awareness, I invite my clients to participate either passively or actively through somatic awareness in their own healing, so it will feel like a collaborative experience where you and your body feel truly met and hopefully, restored. The result is a sense of intimacy with oneself and a wonderful sense of freedom in the body.</image:caption>
